We began the AUM Winter Series with a sold-out Kānuka Stage themed warehouse event so where better for our next showcase than The Hill stage, the psychedelic amphitheatre that is one of the best spots for psytrance in Aotearoa over new years – and which is expertly curated by Science of Sound.

We welcome special guest artist Mental Broadcast and Subverso, a crowd-rocking talent flying in from Brazil. Some of your favourite Science of Sound DJs will be on support: Sharkra, Miss Molly, Tianbeanie and Cosmck-J.

The venue on the night will be transformed into The Hill. If you’ve never been to our new year’s event, this will be an experience for those craving raw, unfiltered rhythms blended with psychedelic staging and decor.

MENTAL BROADCAST + SUBVERSO

MENTAL BROADCAST is the psychedelic trance project of Brazilian DJ Roma, whose journey began in 2002 amidst the vibrant party scene in London. Known early on for his energetic sets and tight mixing, he quickly caught the attention of established psytrance names and securing spots at well-known events such as Psychedelic Cookie in Brighton. These experiences set the foundation for a commitment to psychedelic music and production.

In 2006, he launched the Mental Broadcast project, which soon became one of the most recognized names in Brazil’s trance scene. His sound has a distinctive sonic identity – bold, inventive, and always seeking the unexpected. His debut 2008 EP, Transmission, was followed with a steady stream of tracks and collaborations, earning international recognition. His albums SIGNALS (2011), DECODED (2016), and Android Dreams (2020) have maintained his place as a forward-thinking producer with a strong global following.

He’s performed at major festivals across the globe, including BOOM Festival, Universo Paralello, Rainbow Serpent and Vortex Festival, among many others. Tours to Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa, has taken his high-energy performances to dancefloors. And now to Aotearoa New Zealand.

SUBVERSO is the alternate music personality of Roma, one which shows the different side to his music love: progressive trance. As he ventured into slower tempo, more groovy productions he chose the name Subverso to showcase these styles. From launching it in 2013 he has been associated with progressive labels like Digital Nature, Sourcecode, Antu Records and Tech Safari Records.

Roma will play two sets at this Winter Series Event, showcasing the respective sounds. 

THE HILL STAGE by SCIENCE OF SOUND

Nestled in a sun-dappled, tree-lined amphitheater, The Hill is AUM Festival’s secret underground haven – hosted by Science of Sound. This bush doof spot is all about immersive high‑energy vibrations.

As the sun dips, the fierce lineup of psytrance, full‑on, dark psytrance, future prog, drum & bass, breaks, bass music and more bring the forest alive. The Hill is designed for ravers who want to experience raw, unfiltered rhythms blended with lush natural beauty. To sweat under the stars and lose yourself in bold sonic journeys

For this special AUM Winter Series event, expect a fierce lineup of psytrance, progressive psy and more with full Science of Sound decor, performance and their famous good vibes.

AUM tickets are available only through our authorised ticket vendor. All tickets have the users name on them and IDs are checked at the gate.
