The AUM 2024 music lineup is a jigsaw of wonderful pieces falling into place. For this special 10th birthday event, we have secured the ample talents of some artists we have had our eye on for years, some who are global icons in their genres.
We have also gathered some of our favourite friends and legends of the Aotearoa music scene for the occasion, including artists who supported AUM across the years as we grew from small beginnings into the thriving creative community it is today. We’ve also sought out some emerging talent too. Please welcome the first music release, just some of the over 200 artists joining us for an epic new year’s.

OOOD (UK)
Psychedelic trance
OOOD are pioneering UK psychedelic trance band known for their melodic soundscapes and fusion of organic and electronic elements, and their early Goa trance sounds. They’ve released 6 acclaimed albums since the mid-90s, as well as many EPs and singles on leading labels like Iboga Records and Flying Rhino Records. Their live performances have captivated audiences at the largest psytrance festivals worldwide, including Boom Festival and Ozora.
JAMES ZABIELA (UK)
Techno, breakbeat + progressive
British DJ James Zabiela is a DJs-DJ. He effortless combined techno, breakbeat and progressive house and is known as one of dance music’s technical wizards. His talent has taken him around the world from the US to South America to Asia and Europe and he’s produced popular mixes for DJ Mag, Balance, Renaissance and Resident Advisor. As a remixer he’s put his touch on records by Sasha, Radiohead, Orbital and many more. He plays exclusively at AUM over new years.
RONI SIZE (UK)
Drum and bass
Roni Size is a global force in the drum and bass genre and one of the genre’s earliest icons through Roni Size & Reprazent, the live group he formed in the late 1990s. He’s built his career as a trailblazer of UK rave era jungle and has transformed his talents into performing at many of the biggest festivals around the world with his audio-visual showcase and exclusive shows alongside LTJ Bukem.
SALMONELLA DUB SOUNDSYSTEM (NZ)
Aotearoa space weavers. Mainland Dub originators. Bass pioneers. Cultural landscape collaborators. With a name synonymous with Aotearoa’s reggae infused dub music, the cultural significance of Salmonella Dub Soundsystem can’t be overstated. A generation of Kiwi’s have grown up to their unique sound which has also won them fans around the world as a powerhouse live dance act with regular appearances at festivals around NZ and Australia.
SENSIENT (AU)
Psychedelic trance, zenon
Sensient is a true innovator of the psychedelic trance scene. His music is deep and intelligent and draws influence from many different styles. With 8 solo albums to his name, he also founded Zenon Records in 2003 which has since become so influential in the world of psytrance that it coined the sub-genre “zenon” based on its sound. His sets at the largest festivals around the world continue to be showstopping forays into this cutting-edge sound.
PITCH BLACK (NZ)
Dub and electronica
Legendary Aotearoa electronic artist Pitch Black returns to AUM for an exclusive live dub set. For over 25 years Paddy Free and Mike Hodgson have been at the forefront of NZ’s electronic scene, forging a career out of brilliant live performances which started at one of NZ’s iconic festivals, The Gathering, back in 1996. Their six albums production has won them acclaim and seen them travel the globe, from the Australian outback to Croatia and Las Vegas.
DEVILSKIN (NZ)
Rock, alternative metal
Devilskin are a four-piece alternative metal group from Hamilton. Since forming in 2010 they have become one of Aotearoa’s foremost live rock artists. They’ve had platinum selling records and have been nominated six times at the New Zealand Music Awards, with their 2016 album ‘Be Like The River’ winning Best Rock Album. Their live shows with the spectacular Jennie Skulander on lead vocals firmly place Devilskin as an irresistible force in NZ rock.
DUBTRIBE SOUND SYSTEM (US)
Organic and deep house
Dubtribe Sound System are San Francisco duo Sunshine and Moonbeam Jones who were pioneers of what is now knows as the organic house sound. Formed in 1991, they were soon performing at events with live drums, analog synths and guest musicians. Among their many records, ‘Do it Now’ from 2001 is considered one of the finest deep house records of all time. After a release on Defected Records, it became a global summer anthem. Firmly placed as house music legends, it is an honour for their first ever visit to NZ to be at AUM.
ANTIX (NZ)
Minimal, trance, progressive
Brothers Barton and Hayden Strom form Antix. They’ve been crushing it since the 1990s with their productions and phenomenal live performances which they describe as a morphing of dissociative minimal techno, emotive trance, floor-destroying chuggery and frank psychedelia. With their records catching the attention of top labels including Iboga, Bedroc and Toolroom, and their fifth studio album in 2024, they are truly one of Aotearoa’s leading electronic artists and live acts.
SUNSHINE JONES (US)
House, live synths and drum machines
Sunshine Jones is a producer, vocalist and live performer known for his pioneering sounds as a founding member of Dubtribe Sound System through the 1990s. His music helped shape the sound of deep and organic house and his live performances are now something of legend. Jones blends organic and electronic elements, creating immersive soundscapes. His live set from Lightning In A Bottle Festival 2022 is a shining example of live electronic performance done perfectly (it’s available on his Bandcamp page).
NIKKI S (UK)
Psytrance
Nikki S is a psytrance DJ/producer renowned for her dynamic and high-energy sets. She has captivated audiences at major psychedelic festivals worldwide, including at Boomtown and Ozora. Nikki S’s productions have been released on leading labels and showcase her unique style which blends psychedelic soundscapes with driving rhythms. As one of psytrance’s leading female artists, we are proud she’s joining us for the first time at AUM.
MUROKI (NZ)
Indie, funk, pop
Berlin-based Kenyan New Zealander Muroki brings a soulful blend of indie, funk, and pop audiences. Known for his hypnotic voice and captivating melodies, Muroki has earned acclaim with his platinum single “Wavy” and a stunning cover of Tame Impala’s “Borderline.” His sound it rooted in Raglan’s sun-soaked vibe, and he’s rapidly emerging as a star on the global stage.
GREG CHURCHILL (NZ)
house & techno
Greg Churchill is an icon of the New Zealand electronic music scene, having started his career in 1984 on student radio in Christchurch. He was there when various styles coalesced into what we now know as house music, and has been a champion of the sound spanning 5 decades.
A residency at NZ’s most influential forward-thinking music club of the 1990s, Auckland’s Box nightclub, saw Greg influence a generation of clubbers and DJs alike. In the 2000s he became a prolific producer with productions on Ministry of Sound, Azuli, Hed Kandi, Underwater, Gung Ho and Toolroom.
In 2024, Greg’s passion for new and exciting music still burns as strong as ever. We’re honoured to have Greg back at AUM again.
Labretta Suede & The Motel 6 (NZ)
High-energy rock ‘n’ roll
This high-energy rock ‘n’ roll from NZ are known for their raw, rebellious sound and captivating live performances. They’re fronted by the charismatic Labretta Suede, the band fuses garage rock, punk, and rockabilly influences into a gritty, unapologetic musical experience.
Since 2005, they have toured the US, Europe and Australasia building a loyal following with their electrifying presence and infectious energy, confirming their place as underground rock icons.
Labretta Suede and The Motel 6 have been regulars at AUM over the years with epic performances at the Hub and Bush Theatre stages.
UONE (AU)
Psychedelic house & techno
Uone is an Australian electronic music artist known for his signature western-influenced tribal deep house sets which bring together organic, electronic sounds and 60s psychedelica.
His quite unique sound has gained global recognition and his dynamic performances have graced events like Burning Man and UK’s Glastonbury Festival.
As a co-found of the Beat & Path label alongside Kiwi duo Out of Sorts, Uone champions forward-thinking music, and has produced over 200 tracks which have found their way into sets of some of dance music’s legends: Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Carl Cox among more.
AROHA (NZ)
house, breakbeat, electro, bass
Aroha is a Melbourne-based Kiwi DJ and producer known for her genre-blurring sets that mix house, techno, breakbeat, electro, and bass, creating a unique and infectious sound.
Aroha was a longtime host on George FM and she’s performed at Beyond The Valley, Rhythm & Vines, Northern Bass and Electric Avenue. 2024 saw Aroha pair up with MC Tali to release their debut single together, ‘These Walls’, a crossover electronic anthem which was widely supported by tastemakers.
Aroha will be joining the LO-FI Productions takeover of the Kānuka Stage. Be ready for mayhem.
SHARKRA (NZ)
Psytrance
Sharkra is a DJ with a genre-defying psychedelic sound that captivates. Her DJing debut came at Ignition Festival in 2019 and she quickly leapt to performing at events and festivals including AUM, Splore and Shipwrecked. With an ambition to hit new heights, Sharkra joined Ovnimoon Records in 2023 to create a compilation mix, “Synthesis of Psy” and has more projects in the future after an already busy 2024 where she toured Europe.
This new year Sharkra will again run THE HILL stage takeover at AUM, leading the creative team and curating the music lineup.
TRUTH (NZ)
Dubstep
Leading Kiwi dubstep duo Truth have shown their talents at festivals and events across the world and are firmly one of NZ’s biggest electronic music exports.
Their music has seen them perform at Shambhala and Outlook festivals, feature on a major US TV show, and become in-demand remixers and sound designers. Their powerful, subwoofer-shaking basslines have graced AUM over the years so it’s special to have this talented duo join us for our tenth birthday event.
STRANGELY AROUSING (NZ)
Alt-Reggae, dub, trip-hop
A genre-mash of dub, jazz, reggae and hip-hop influences is what’s put Strangely Arounding on the Aotearoa festivals map. Forming in 2013 in Rotorua, the band made the move to Auckland and has since released multiple EPs and become known for their energetic live performances. Their eclectic sound has taken them to events in Asia and the Middle East.
Strangely Arousing considers themselves “trans genre”. Their popularity is testament to their staying power and while they may be hard to describe they are easy to enjoy. Their talents have rocked the Hub stage at AUM previously so be prepared.
DARK FACES (NZ)
Minimal techno
Jayna Haze and Finn Jackson are two intertwined music hearts who equate to the sum of Dark Faces. The duo share a deep love for electronic music and are driven to share their love of music, and are among the emerging talents of the Aotearoa electronic music scene.
They’ve established their name through running events with local and international DJs, and creating their own boutique music and arts gathering, “This Must Be It”, which is held annually in Raglan. Dark Faces will be found on the Kānuka Stage this new year.
