FAMILY FRIENDLY FESTIVAL

AUM is a festival for the whole family to enjoy.

We created AUM as a festival which welcomes families. Each year lots of families join us because this is an amazing place for everyone young and old to have the time of their lives together, safely and in comfort.

AUM is a summer playground filled with wonders and activities for all ages. We have children’s spaces, shows, art and workshops to enjoy wondrous experiences and make new friends. We have activities which can be enjoyed by families together, not forgetting the music zones too. Our Hub stage hosts a Suzy Cato live show, has children-friendly comedy, magic, aerial artistry and more.

Children are welcome at AUM

Activities include: Painting and colouring corner ♦ learning to stilt walk ♦ poi making and play ♦ hula hooping camp ♦ dance and making dance ribbons ♦ Kiwi games (swing ball, cricket, skipping ropes) ♦ face painting ♦ unicorn horn making for the World’s Greatest Unicorn Gathering ♦ African drumming ♦ juggling lessons ♦ sculpture and jewellery making ♦ Qi workshops ♦ morning family yoga and more.

Safety and assistance

Child (and big people!) safety is our top priority. We take great care to ensure the festival and the activities meet high standards of health & safety and aim to create the safest festival environment.

Paramedics, festival security and AUM staff are available 24 hours should they be needed. At all times, if you need help, ask anyone wearing any coloured hi-vis vest and they’ll get help.

Note: Youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the festival.

There are no babysitting/creche serves available at AUM, so be prepared with how you’ll roster your night time adult fun!

Festival tips

AUM has multiple music stages, some of which can be loud. Please bring hearing protection for the little ones for when they are close to the stages.

AUM is an open-air event in a rural setting with hills, trees, water and other potential hazards, and is a full-scale festival operation. Please consider the usual risks of doing activities outdoors and always keep clear of festival machinery, equipment or vehicles.

Certain areas of the festival site are cordoned off with either fencing or caution/ danger tape for everyone’s safety. We recommend you go on your first site adventure with your children and point these areas out to the little ones as NO-GO areas.

AUM Village has a wide range of food vendors including vegetarian and vegan options. We also have smoothie and coffee vendors, and the Fitzroy Oasis sells water, softdrinks, mocktails and bags of ice.

AUM is a waste free event. Please ensure you wrap and seal in a plastic bag and dispose of used nappies in the designated bin by the main toilet block ONLY.

And don’t forget sun protection. Summer in NZ can be burny.
