FATS WHITE - Our painter for the show
FATS WHITE - Our painter for the showWe are super privileged to have the extraordinary & extravagantly raw, honest talent of Fats White painting LIVE at Aum-The Undersea Forest. Fats will be creating an original work during the show, which will be raffled off to a lucky attendee. Make sure you have some $5 notes on you to buy a ticket or 10! you could end up with an original by a recognised New Zealand artist... and a cool memory to boot ! 😉 So grateful for this! ......................................................................... Fats White Artist in Residence at Te Henga Studios, Merit Award winner for the New Zealand National Contemporary Art Awards, finalist in the Wallace Art Awards, with his paintings in private collections in Japan, Berlin, Hamburg, Grenoble, Paris and Antibes. Fats White is a multi-disciplinarian. He is also an award winning filmmaker, his experimental films have been shown in Italy, New York City, San Fransisco, Stuttgart, Sydney and Brussels. Fats White as a musician wrote the song "Midnight Cowboys" which went to number one in the Country and Western Charts, 2015.........From the late 1970's his involvement as the lead singer to the Capital Cities under-ground cult band Shoes This High,+ the Smelly FeeT, and The Kiwi Animal music group have all seen releases,re-release pressings in Germany for TKA In the UK for Shoes This High, including a new album release for Shoes This High in the USA 2014. ................................................. ... How bout a statement,....... Go,.....I am a world of my own vision. it is a day and night, night & day mantra that holds sway in my studio,my womb, situated over the quiet Earth on the black sand edge of civilization. The World is seen from afar but there is a need to engage in a visual conversation. The Artist orbits a world outside but it is the painting that dictates how it was going to be. There are essential verbs of collage, looking back through the eye in the storm. Inviting ideas, times, formats, materials, styles and impressions to create the recipe. In the first fleeting moments there are tensions offered by the ingredients of brilliant colors even the language of the cities flesh fossils in the vibrant light.................................................. This "figurehead" painting presents a phantogram of visual antagonism, with distressed texture, i squirt i sprays, i combs it on in apparent representation and abstraction. The temporal turbulence of what goes on in the womb,-my studio maybe sours the milk i suck on but an objective alertness vulnerable to a glance, a change in light, shouts the loudest.
AURORA WILDAurora Wild is a poet, writer, performance artist, DJ and creative activist - or what she likes to call a Creative Node. She believes in cheek and good nature, forgiveness and growth. She celebrates beauty and the wondrous synchronicities and symmetries. that connect us all (apparent strangers) across this cosmic web we like to call life. She is raucous, yet tender, soft, yet strong. She can be broken with a word and put back together with one. She is an artist at heart and honours the power of words. She’ll be combining her words live and freestyle in conjunction with her DJ set. It's a natural progression to join such loved art forms of Aurora’s together in the one performance and she looks forward to sharing with you all.
BIG DAVEGrowing up in a family of child music performers, Dave discovered psychedelic trance on Kariotahi Beach on the West Coast of New Zealand, and from then on life changed forever. His journey took him to the UK where he then spent three years attending many outdoor and illegal “squat” parties in the London underground scene, where he made many lifelong friends. From there he started playing in the London underground parties; the first being in five-storey building filled with ravers in North London, and then taking on many morning mash-up sets with friends Beardy and EVP from Wildthings Records. After discovering the incredible Opus sound system, he decided he had to bring this experience to New Zealand, and came back to start Phat Productions. His style is very much the London underground vibe – having it the whole time, psychedelic and “slamming”, always delivering the goods when the crowd needs it. Make sure you catch him at the next party!
DJ FROGGMANDJ Froggman has his roots firmly planted in Cape Town, South Africa. After attending a few outdoor psy festivals and being inspired by a few of the resident DJS at Getafix (the longest running psytrance club in Cape Town), he started playing psy and also became a resident DJ there. He moved to NZ in 2008 and after attending his first outdoor party here he knew he had something to offer. He's played for Phat Productions, Rural Remix, Altered Dimensions, Twisted Planet, Luminate Festival, Neverlands Way (New Caledonia) and is now a resident DJ with Prog Station and AUM Productions. Froggman is inspired by the energy on the dancefloor and plays a combination of chunky Zenon and psy prog that will have you bouncing non-stop and leave you grinning from ear to ear.
FERKSTAFresh back from smashing the massive Hydra stage at Earthcore Australia, Ferksta is no stranger to international and national bookings. He has played all over the world and is right now at the top of his game representing NZ behind the decks on a regular basis. Ferksta’s selection style is difficult to box. In general, he plays progressive psychedelic trance… well, most of the time. But he also loves the chunkiness of good psy-tech, the kick of meaty techno, and the weight of a good rolling bassline regardless of its label. In any given set, you will also experience lush organic soundscapes and atmospheric journeys swirling around and through the driving bottom end. More than anything though, it is Ferksta’s mixing style that defines his sound. He mixes very deep into each track, often layering different elements to create his own vibe. Bringing in vocal or other samples he’s never afraid to pitch it up or down to suit the floor. Ferksta engages with the crowd and works the mixer non-stop blending many styles through his sets to create the journey. Ferksta has been a part of the scene in New Zealand and playing music for over 20 years. He owns and runs AUM Productions with his partner Anna.
DJ KAMOTIONHailing from the Auckland underground scene, DJ Kamotion has been playing tunes for seven years providing good music of all kinds for your dancing and listening pleasure.
MISS MIXTAPEBorn from the Paddock of Kiwiburn, Miss Mixtape was keen to complement the doof at festivals with more music with words. With a mixed spectrum of musical influence, she’s been mastering her craft and developing a unique style, spinning a fusion of dirty disco and rock classics, just like your favourite mixtape from days gone by. She’ll have you shaking your groove thing while you play that air guitar, after all, rock n roll ain’t noise pollution!
MUNTERMany, many years ago, in a land much different to the city we see today, lived a young Munter from Whiti City, who decided to move to the big smoke. Being musically inclined, motivated and friendly, he met many interesting people, heard lots of trippy music and went to many places and parties all over New Zealand, until one day he discovered a dingy corrugated iron shack tucked away on Normanby Road in the shadow of Mount Eden. That was when things really kicked off. Munter toiled in the trenches of the dance scene way back in the day; from the old Cyberculture gigs and first Splore Festivals, running around between Kariotahi and Pakiri and everywhere in between. Then he went from The Gathering to Alpine Unity and Dreamweavers, getting noise-controlled and having Councillers on his case from North to South. He played hillbilly house parties and birthdays, seedy clubs and hippy festivals all over the joint, since partying like it was 1999 was something people did (cause it WAS 1999)! Currently Sound Guy, Technical Advisor and Resident Pain in the Earballs with Aum Productions. Munter always serves up a musical journey drawing from too many diverse styles and genres to really know what you’ll be getting until it reaches your ears. Be warned, dancing with wild abandon with hands in the air and waving like you just don’t care, gurning your face off, stomping your feet and grinning like an idiot are some of the side effects known to proliferate a Munter dancefloor.
NERDY ABSURDY1 cup of insane, 3 tablespoons of weird, a splash of abstract with a pinch of naughty, slow boiled to a loopy goop of misunderstood craziness.

RACHAEL SABINThe night she unexpectedly had to fill in and spin some tunes for her drunken DJ boyfriend, she accidentally fell in love with DJing… and when she fell, she sure fell hard! Her boyfriend instructed her to just ‘blend the two records together… you know, just like you do at home’, but she promptly grew tired of that and thought, ‘f**k this, I’m gonna mix!’ She had certainly never daydreamed as a wee child about growing up and becoming a DJ! That fateful evening, she ended up staying on the decks for about four hours and when the bar closed was reluctantly dragged home. Later, when she first experienced the overwhelming rush that comes from playing to a solid dancefloor, there was no cure, she was seriously hooked and her life would change forever. Based in Auckland, New Zealand, Rachael Sabin has been at the leading edge of Auckland’s underground house scene since she started playing in 1999. Having spent her formative years as a dancer and enveloped in all kinds of music at home, Rachael learnt her trade throughout the land, becoming resident at such venues and parties as SPQR, Velvet, Fu Bar and The Loft and was frequently asked to guest at major international events including the huge Gatecrasher and Global Underground events both in New Zealand and Australia. In 2002 Rachael set off on her big overseas adventure. She stepped right out of her comfort zone and moved to London with the lofty, shimmering goal of travelling the world playing music. Along with her new DJ partner, Mark Pickering, she started a bi-weekly Saturday evening radio show on Worldwide FM, London’s original online radio station. The show ended up being the most popular on air, averaging at between three and four thousand unique listeners per show, logging on from all over the world. DJs would frequently contact Rachael to request a guest spot on The JADED Show, ‘cause the reputation for it being a blast had spread far and wide! Guests included Timo Garcia, Dean Webb, Andy Taylor, Derrick Carter, Anthea, Giles Smith, Jafar, Tim Red, Satsuma, Jason Spencer, Anthony Cox, Jen Gannon, Ben Jam, Dan Air and Jamie Winter. Rachael’s vibrant personality, impressive technical skills and unique ability to hypnotise and seduce the dancefloor ensure that she’s kept busy playing in clubs and at festivals throughout the length and breadth of New Zealand. Always keeping it real and playing the hottest deep house and techno – make sure you catch one of her sets soon. You’ll find her at Ink, or Red Bar in Auckland, as well as her residency at all AUM PRODUCTION’S events. She promoted TECHNOLOGYSTOLEMYVINYLE and JADED club nights in Auckland in the past and now plays live and produces music together with Marcus Morgan as CLEVER BOX. She’s currently running some very successful gigs with a focus on live electronic acts and producers called CLEVER BOX & FRIENDS, as well as launching a new music and art collective called THE JOY ADMINISTRATION.
